Itanos (Greek: Ίτανος) is a municipality in the Lasithi prefecture, Crete, Greece. Population 2514 (2001). The seat of the municipality is in Palaikastro.

The municipality was named after the ancient city Itanos. A settlement existed since the prehistoric period. Important was Itanos in the classical and Hellenistic period. Hieraptyna and Itanos in cooperation were the centers of East Creta since 140 BC.
In 795 AD the city was destroyed by an earthquake. It was rebuild but in the 15th century citizens left the city due to pirat attacks.
